Arcam DV27: Componenet Cable Problem

I have a problem linking my DV27 to a Plasma.

I'm using the progressive component connection - the problem is the red cable is very very sensitive - i.e if you move it slightly - it messes up.

My dealer said thats standard and just don't move it - but I'm sure thats BS.

My guess is that i have a dodgy cable or perhaps my connection on the DV27 is not working right.

Anyone else have this problem?

sk123,

It sounds to me like you have one of three problems (in addition to your problematic dealer)

a) a cable with a poor connection at one of its ends

Have you tried interchanging two of the cables? The component video cables themselves should be identical to one another. You just need to make sure that the individual DVD video outputs are connected to the correct inputs of your display. If the cable is at fault, the problem will move to another input.

b) a poor connection at the DVD player

c) a poor connection at the display

If the problem stays with the particular input, then you need to try to determine which device is at fault. e.g. gently wiggle one end while holding the cable so the other end doesn't move.

I hope this helps a little.

Biggest BS I've heard today;).

Selden nailed the troubleshooting advice. When the connection is blamed, remember that this may be an internal connection issue.

Which end of the cable causes a problem-player or display?
