Quick question. Not sure if this is possible or not.
I have a receiver that was just replaced with an HD receiver at my home. Is it possible to take my spare receiver to my second home and hook up there while keeping it mirrored to my account at house 1? I have a spare dish that was just replaced with a 3LNB model.
Or, would I have to spring for another programming package to go along with receiver at my second location?
If you keep the spare receiver registered, you can take it anywhere. I take my old Sony (now in the family room) to Minnesota in the summer, works great.
Keep the subcription on the spare for $5/month, but NEVER EVER plug it into a phone line unless it's at the same location (and phone number) as the other box. If you box dials out from another phone number you be billed by D* as a seperate subcription. This trick can be used for many purposes, like getting your home locals at a vacation location, motorhome usage, blackouts, etc.
