Unless the specification listing is wrong over at Projector Central, it looks as if the new Panasonic AE700 has an extra long throw lens assembly and zoom range compared to the popular, yet more expensive Infocus 720p DLP projectors (which have a pretty good range in and of themselves).
That would be a godsend since the longer the throw, the usually better the projector is at being able to add a quality anamorphic lens with minimal to no added distortion.
Most cheaper projectors seem to be going the extra short throw route, and I'm glad Panasonic seemingly went the other way! Most relatively inexpensive units seem to either wind up having to hang right above your main seating area or in front of it with fan noise and/or light spill sometimes getting in the way.
I'd like to be able to add either a Prismasonic or ISCO horizontal stretching anamorphic lens at some point to create a 2.35:1 image via HTPC scaling.
Has anyone with an AE700 tried an anamorphic lens yet?
Hmmm...
Thanks!
Dan
