If it wasn't damaged before you did that it may be now. If you're going to run a driver outside of an enclosure you have to be very careful not to drive it beyond the cone excursion limits. You may have done just that.

given the inconsistent noise pattern, it's probably the voicecoil broken up down inside the motor structure. Possibly the former came unglued from the cone too.

Tinsel leads slapping against the cone can do that too. Impossible to say what it is from a video.

What signal is that pink noise?

Sounds like the voicecoil is rubbing on the T plate, expansion from over heating, that is a very common death-sound for a dying subwoofer to make.


Eventually the coil will fail, or just completely annoy you to no end; the only cure is a complete recone or brandnew purchase.

Yea i don't think its the coil, its the spyders, I think they just making a slight ticking noise because of movement and in the video sounds larger than it is. You won't hear it once in the box.


Next step, install in the box with the passive radiator and see what its capable of. At 1250RMS, this sub does not reach peak excursion in free air, its a VERY stiff sub, that 2000RMS is no joke.
