That doesn't look like the right stuff, the insulshield we use is 1" thick fiberglass based insulation. That stuff looks like some kind of fiberglass cloth.


My 1" thick manville linacoustic came on a 400sf roll for about $150.

I agree that it may be too thin.

The "by-the-yard" stuff seems to come heavier, i.e. 18, 24, or 35 oz.

I may try to get a sample.

Just hoping it was one of those things where if it wasn't labeled "home theater" it could be had for a more reasonable price- kind of like the Parkland plastic screen for $30.

If you are looking for the Johns Manfield InsulShield, that is not the product. I don't believe InsulShield is maunfactured any more. It was replaced with TheaterShield. I used InsulShield in my theater and was able to purchase it from a commercial insulation company. The product is 1" thick. You can see some of it in my construction pictures HERE . It comes in sheet stock and roll stock. What I purchased was in 100' rolls which were 4' wide. Good luck.
