I thought I remembered some one saying that besides giving better blacks with a DLP that a gray screen can also cut down the rainbow effect. Is it that true? Its too broad a catagory to do a search.

I think youre talking about the Stewart Greyhawk screen- click on the advertisement here for Stewart for their details and Id even give them an email; and yes, Id do a search on the greyhawk. I did do a search a while back and I remember reading that the greyhawk screen really did improve the precieved contrast ratio a little and made the image a little punchier. I dont remember about color wheel artifacts (thats the rainbow effect). Id think it wouldnt have much effect though, but I dont know...

I've noticed that color wheel artifacts seem worse (to me) on higher gain screens. So although I haven't seen the Greyhawk, I would expect the artifacts to be less noticeable on it, since it has negative gain.
