No, the Zenith LCD RPTV is not LCOS. It's LCD. The JVC D-ILA products, on the other hand, do employ LCOS (Liquid Crystal on Silicon) technology. One important difference is that an LCD device is addressed from the edge, the LCOS devices from behind. The area of the LCD device occupied by the switching matrix/driver circuitry doesn't transmit light, creating a border on each pixel that gives rise to the screen door appearance of LCD images. In contrast, virtually all (better than 90%) of the LCOS device surface is devoted to image creation.
