i've had this unit for more then a year now and it's been good up until a few days ago when i noticed that the screen/picture does not fill the whole screen.

it seems that on the right edge of the screen there is a black strip maybe 1/4 inch in thickness and is from top right edge to the bottom and is like that on any channel i'm trying to view.

i did some trouble shooting and it seems that it only does it on video 1 and 2 inputs.

i'm using regular NON hd dish net feed.

when using the DVD player using HDMI cable is fine the screen is FULL without any black strip on right side; although i did try using the regular video out of the DVD player into the video 1 of the TV just to rule things out, and again the black strip was present.

so there seems to be something wrong with the video inputs 1 and 2 on the panny set.

has anybody encountered this type of failure and if so how was it fixed??

thanks in advance.

You may have already thought of this but...try switching the HD1/HD2 setting and see if that helps.

here are some pictures of what i'm talking about...

this is the side of TV that is OK.

and this is the side (right side) that acts up, but it doesn't do it on all channels...that's why it has me stumped....

....and this is the same side that was bad on some channels, but good on others...

also this is the menu of the dish net IRD box, it also shows some lines on the sides of the screen....and i can't recall them being there b4

I have seen many posts from people with Dish and DirecTV where the image was shifted to the left so maybe it is the Dish receiver or their broadcast. It even used to happen with Dish on our LG LCD TV at work. Does your DVD player display the same multi-colored strip in the lower right corner, or is it just a black bar? Is the black strip on DVD exactly the same size as the colored one via Dish? Or is it thinner?

Your SD Dish receiver is designed for use with a standard def TV which typically has a lot of overscan. Flat Panel TVs however often have much less overscan and this can often reveal interference and other garbage along the edges that have traditionally been hidden by traditional Tube TVs, so maybe it's just an incompatibility issue with your old SD receiver and the Flat Panel TV.

I don't think the HD Size setting is available on the regular Composite Video inputs but check it out anyway. If it is not grayed out, set it to the HD Size 1 setting which adds a few percent of overscan and see if that hides the strip.
