off course I was jesting.

However, this thing looks pretty freaking awesome. Sucks about the 720p thought. I wonder how convincing this thing will be in "mimicking" a true big screen? Anyone have experience with HMD displays?

If they can can make these OLED so tiny already, I wonder how far off OLED projectors might be?

To call a pair of 0.7" OLED panel akin to a 750" movie screen is ridiculous without also stating the viewing distance.

What's "equivalent to a 750-inch screen" supposed to mean? That you walk around with a low-res billboard pasted to your face? I can hold my phone up to my face and it looks bigger than my 50" plasma at 10'. A quarter can cover the moon.

The cool thing is that it blocks all light and any other visual references. Sure you can stick your cell phone a couple of inches from your face, but you have too many visual "distractions" around you telling you that you are watching a very small screen a few inches from your nose (your nose would also be a distraction). Now take away all visual distractions and maybe your brain can be fooled into thinking it's a huge screen?

What if eventually they scan images right onto our retinas? Now that would be awesome

You joke about this but I was listening to a radio show called "What will happen in the next 100 years" and contacts that could scan the internet when you meet someone could tell you all about them.(Google to the MAX).

So it really is not that far off to scan the image to contacts of a video.

I'm 54 so I'll be dead before it happens but my kids are 6 and 7 so they will see it and I'm gonna tell them about it so they remember their DAD was a jeenus.

I think they did; 750" at 20m or 150" at 1m...........

Of course, Sony will have the adjustments so perfect that there will be no need to calibrate it
.

BTW, how would you calibrate it
? -- A whole new company making micro meters the size of a human eyeball .

Also, I calculate that a 0.7, diagonal, 16:9, display would be about 0.6" wide. With the viewing distance of about 1/4" (optimistic estimate from the picture), that corresponds to a screen of about 300", not 750" (at a 10' viewing distance). That's only about double the size of zombie10k's screen. If the actual eyeball to display distance is 1/2" (more realistic) then zombie10k almost has it beat.

Thanks for the laugh. I am still laughing.

Do you guys think they will make this in a 2.35 to one aspect ratio? Maybe I should wait for the 4K version but the beauty of this is you can tell everybody yours are a 2.35 4K proto that you are testing for Sony. No one would ever know that you are watching down rezed 1080p to 720p plus losing additional res due to the black bars.
