I have been searching for an HS10 in the $2500 price range. I have an order with RitzAV, but my salesman is saying that Sony isn't delivering as they promised. The other online stores that have the HS10 in that price range are showing as 'backordered' or 'call us for availability'. When I looked on eBay, I was able to find a few for this price, but they were all listed as Japan models with the Japan warranty. Given the inherent premature bulb problems, I am concerned about an out-of-country warranty. Should I be worried about this? I wasn't really prepared to spend the full $3K retail for this thing, but there doesn't seem to be any in-between. It's either $2500 for Japan version (manual and everything is in English), or $3000 for the U.S. version.

Any feedback on this topic?

I ordered mine from a US company with a US warranty, but the box has Japanese all over it, so they should be the same units.

As far as bulb is concerned, I'm pretty sure this has been fixed, but I'm not sure how you can tell when the product was made.

My dealer wanted full retail since it was at the time the only HS10 they'd seen for over a month, though I was able to get them down to $2700. Since they're way more plentiful these days I'll bet you can get one for that price if not better.

I'd definitely go another $200 for a domestic dealer of good customer service repute.

FWIW a dealer in Columbus,OH is advertising it for $2599. Not sure if they have them in stock but they have one on display. The name of the company is Center Stage and they are part of the MicroCenter store on Bethel Rd in Columbus. Their number is 614-326-8500. I believe you call the main number and ask for Center Stage.

I just got my HS10 back from Sony warranty repair. I bought a Sony 40" direct view TV so my projector is up for sale. The ad will go up on Projector Central shortly.

I assume your talking about the 40" XBR Direct View sets. I had one of those (XBR700) and I much prefer the HS10 for its gigantic image, widescreen, and size/weight and versatility (have you tried lifting that mother yet! It took 4 of us to move it 20 ft and we had to rest in between). In fact I sold it just to get an HS10. And could not be happier that I did.

Now I am just waiting for my HS10 to get back from Sony for repair. Should be here any day now.
