Help. I am trying to special order the RX-V2400 or 1400 through AAFES. Its the Army and Airforce exchange service. They are telling me that the RX-V1400 and 2400 are Yamaha USA products not Yamaha Japan products. Does anyone know the model number for the Japan Version.

THanks

The manual for the 2400 makes reference to US, European, Asian and General variants of the 2400. But the Yamaha Japan website lists the RX-V2300 as the being the "new", current model. So it seems the 2400 has not yet been introduced in Japan for some reason or another.

(Who knows? Maybe they don't want them showing up on the gray market. Maybe the domestic Japanese market for AVRs is not as competivive. Maybe there's limited production and they've allocated their production to the US market to make headway against the competition. All just guesses.)

Yep, that looks like the one. It appears to be a receiver, though they call it a "AV Amplifier". It has a tuner, but the FM band won't be the same as the one in the US (something like 75-93Mhz). The big problem, IMHO, is that the receiver is that god-awful color (champagne) the Japanese seem to like.

Cheers,

Bill
