Has anyone here ever heard of the Japanese Digital Television System D Terminal connector? I'm looking for information regarding the D Terminal standard as well as the pin out for the standard.

In my research I found that the forth coming Nintendo Game Cube will have one of these as well as some sort of adapter cable for connection to component inputs (YPbPr).

The reason that I'm interested is that Canopus is marketing in Japan an alternate bracket for a handful of their graphics cards (most are Geforce 2 based) which supports what they call SSH or Signal Super Highway. What's cool is that this alternate bracket (alternate to VGA) outputs a variety of HDTV standard resolutions including 1280 x 720p which is referred to as D4. This one terminal can be used for D1 to D5. Not all five outputs have to be implemented. This provides for Standard Definition output at the low end (D1) and High Definition at the hight end (D5) which is spec'd at 1080p. The Canopus bracket seems to support D2 and D4. Here is Canopus' page; http://www.canopus.co.jp/catalog/sp8800/ssh-hdtv.htm

Here are a couple of reviews

You can translate the Japanese to English here http://world.altavista.com by copy/pasting the above URLs.

This may be the holy grail if not for the card being available in Japan only and for the lack of info regarding the "D" terminal.

bbq, thank you for the information regarding the D Connector. Do you know of any source of an adapter cable to connect between the D Connector and RCA for component inputs?

Do the the other pins (link, or switching) have anything to do with selecting which type of output (D1, D2, D3, D4, D5) comes down the Y Pb Pr outputs?

So far it looks like the Spectra 8800 with the SSH-HDTV bracket would definitely work to produce 1280 x 720p. The Spectra 8800 is a Geforce 2 Ultra.
