I'm looking to buy a HT for muic and movies for ratio 40/60. My room size is about 4000 cubit feet. I want good bass, so I definitely want one great sub like HSU VTF3 MK5. For the speaker I couldn't make decision between JBL 530 HT vs Emptek HT. My budget is $2500 max for these items. Which one of this would be better and why?

JBL Studio 530 pair - $600
JBL Studio 520CBK - $300

Total: $2050 or $2100 or $2400

If you suggest to go with JBL, please let me know which one of the three options for the surround will be good.

Is there any other option better than this for this price range.

Having auditioned the JBL 500 series, that is what I would get.
Four 530 w/520c would be good.

But if you can stretch your budget or do w/o a sub for a time...
Amazon has the 570 HT package (two 570 towers, 520c, two 530) for $1999. Leaving $500 of your budget for a sub. Or adding another $400 for the HSU. Or purchase a sub later.

That is two fine systems you have listed. Heck, I own the EMP Tek R5Bi bookshelf speakers and not the towers, and think they are pretty much impossible to beat at that price or anything close. That being said, I might lean toward the JBL system (haven't auditioned them but have heard a lot about them, plus read a very positive review). If you listen to a lot of 5.1 music videos, it's often nice to have an identical pair of speakers as your fronts, but those 210 should be more than enough for movies. Looks to me that it's a win-win either way. Also, good choice for your subwoofer!

Anyway, if you can, go out and audition the 530s. That may seal the deal.

Not easy to trump the JBL - the 530 is a good option for surrounds, however the
230 can work fine, and they are on sale
