JBL Northridge EC25 vs EC35

3493 Views 5 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  Walter L.
My setup is as follows:

center: EC25

front: E90's

sur: E20's

sub: E250P

I've been thinking on upgrading the center from EC25 to EC35 and was wondering if somebody have done a comparison. Any opinions?

It seems that the main difference is 5" vs 5.25" woofer and the addition of a 3" midrange.

Any opinions?

I don't know what you can do about your EC25 when you get the EC35, which I'm pretty sure you're going to do.

I have the EC35 and considering how much dialog is sent to the center channel (me being a movie junkie), I am so glad I have the bigger model.

If you watch a lot of movies, in my case I watch a lot of stuff from the 60's and 70's, the bigger the center channel the better!
I read in a review that the EC 35 has a slightly better midrange, though I have not heard either one myself.

I switched from EC25 to EC35 and it was a significant upgrade. I moved the EC25 to rear surround duty.
Thanks a lot to all of you for your input!!! I finally got my EC35 upgrade last week. Initially, I was skeptical about the difference but after going through some testing, I have convinced myself that it really makes a difference. The sound is not only louder and clearer as expected, but it has some sort of 3D element that was missing before. As I posted in another thread, I think that besides the larger woofer and midrange addition there must be some other "secret sauce" inside that big box ;)
