JBL SCS145 Subwoofer question

474 Views 1 Reply 2 Participants Last post by  filecat13
I am about to purchase the JBL 5.1 Surround Sound Speaker System to connect to my Panny XR70 Receiver. I notice that the Speakers System does not come with the cable that connects my subwoofer to the Panny XR70. I have read the the User Manual for the XR70 and it states that I need a Monaural Cable. The JBL instructions state that I need a LFE cable. Are these the same cables? What type of cable do I need to purchase to connect the Sub & receiver?

Essentially they're trying to say the same thing. If the "subwoofer out" connector on your receiver is a regular old RCA jack, then you need a single (mono) RCA cable (as opposed to a stereo one) to run from there to the RCA input on your sub. Some cable companies make special LFE (low frequency effects) RCA-type cables, and they might charge a premium for them. This level of spending is mostly marketing hype, however, and any decent RCA-type cable will do, as long as it's of decent quality and construction.
