I read a little about JP1 on another post. Here's my dilema.

I have a SA8300 cable box and really like the universal remote it came with. I also have an Epson RPLCD tv. There are currently no codes for that tv for any remote. I have tried a learning remote, but prefer the labeled oem remote. Can I reprogram this remote to work with my tv? All I really care about controlling on the tv is the power and input selection. It's JP1 compatible for sure.

A little help please, I would rather not spend $100 for a couple functions.

oh yeah, I also have RCA 5.1 and xbox which the current remote I like works fine for.

ok I found an IR file for the pronto on the epson website. Will that help?

If the SA8300 remote IS JP1 compatible then you can create a device upgrade based on the Pronto file that you found (if the Pronto file is for the Epson RPLCD). Some cable remotes have a JP1 connector labeled JP1.1 and those are not JP1 compatible. If it is labeled simply JP1 then it is OK.


If it tuns out not to be JP1 compatible there are several JP1 remotes that are very good and under $25.
