I had DirecTV installed this saturday ... been a long time cable customer, but just moved outside ot Comcast's service area and Adelphia sucks bad. I could get better reception with rabit ears. So far DirecTV's been good ... but apparantly I don't know as much about sat as I thought.
I was under the impression that an LNB was only able to lock on to either the odd or even transponders at any given time ... so to effectively run more than one receiver one would need two LNBs and a multiswitch. Well, I got set up with two receivers, yet I have a dish with a single LNB. There's two cables running from the one LNB that go straight to the receivers (no switch) but the receivers work independently and can see any channel regarless of what the other receiver is set to.
So what's the deal? Is there a new flavor of LND that can lock on to all transponders at once? Or are multiple LNBs only needed when pulling off of multiple sats?
