my questions are i want to run dvd through a progressive dvd player giving out component 480p and was wondering if anyone knows if a card exists for the 1270 or do i have to find another way. also i was thinking of running it at a screen size of 16:9 85" using a da-lite pull down any comments please. what is the max res of this projector and how can i achive it (on a limited budget of $ 850)

many thanks in advance

Hey Mark,

There is not a component input card for the 1270. Dont the DVD players in your neck of the woods have SCART (VGA) output?

That screen size is OK for a 1270. Have you tried a HTPC yet? Max res for a 1270 is around 800X600.

no my dvd players are a USA pioneer elite DV-09 and a Japan sony 7000 (direct from sony r&d multi region , and build no. 12)

uk players dont do vga as standard, but the 2 i have listed above are a lot better quality sound and picture wise than 99.9% of uk players

Welcome to the forum Mark

My Sony 1270 can resolve 666p but I run it at 720p. This is it's max or a little above what it can do but i like the picture. I see scan lines at 666p but cant quite at 720p.

I thought there was a component in card for the Sony's....... Anyway, you can get a component to RGB transcoder, I believe Key Digital is the highest rated by the users here. I would guess AVS would have them, if not search here and Google for key digital transcoder. I think they're around $200 USD. 480p will look good but you would benifit from a HTPC and a higher res.
