Just Purchased the Samsung SIRT-151 at soundcity.com for $348.00 and had a question about the output select button. The owner's manual states that the 1080i setting is for a 16 x 9 format television as well as the 720p setting.I will be purchasing a xbr36 800 " 4 x 3 "and i am confused on which setting to use.I am recieving SDTV and HDTV OTA from Philladelphia ,"ABC,CBS,NBC,FOX,UPN,WB".

Thankyou, Steve

Thanks for the advice jeffthurmont.I would like to keep my set-up simple for my family. My first thought was to set resolution switch 1080i ,plug the component output to the xbr36 800 and the TV would switch between 16 x 9 and 4 x 3 programming.I guess I'll have to experiment when i get my TV.

Thanks,Steve
It would really suck if I got to change the resolution switch between 1080i and 480p depending on what program I am watching. The switch is located behing the STB.

Thanks ,Steve
Use the 1080i output select and make sure your 4:3 Sony XBR has the vertical anamorphic squeeze enabled when you use HD.
Thanks everyone for your help.Unfortunaly I do not have my xbr yet to try these config's.I got alittle worried when I was reading the owners manual on the resolution setting's.I really got to keep the set-up user friendly for the family. My wife thinks i am nut's spending all this money and time trying to get OTA.She will understand when she watch's CSI and other HDTV programming.

Thankyou, Steve
