Had it now 6 hours. In sum: LOVE IT!!!!
Let it warm up for about an hour. I have my interlaced DVD on video 6 (component) and Nintendo Gamecube video 5 (component). Tivo, PS2, and Comcast Digital Cable all S-video (some rerouting through my AV receiver. VCR is composite. Went into service menu and only put AXIS to "1" on all inputs. Didn't look at geometry. Not confident enough to touch that so I'd rather not know if it's off, but the red push seemed easy to switch and was. Next did Avia with all pic modes and have come to like "Pro" the best. Even though the manual claims that the color temp "warm" is NTSC standard with a "red push" I went with "neutral" on all pic modes. I really can't tell much with the DRC modes, but progressive looked the best on the Avia test signals. I'm just gonna leave "cinemotion DRC" as my personal fav, but my gut says to use progressive when watching cable tv. I'll probably get lazy and leave it in DRC cinemotion. I like that my interlace DVD has auto 16:9. Between that and the cinemotion, DVDs look fantastic. I've had a 32 inch XBR for the last five years, so I was worried about increasing the size to 53 inches. DVDs look awesome, progressive Gamecube is unbelievable, Tivo/Cable is so-so like expected. I'll sacrifice Tivo and Cable clarity for the DVD and videogame images. In all, very impressed. Glad I went 4:3. I would rather letterbox than stretch the picture. I don't want to deal with manual 16:9 so I'm gonna keep the interlaced DVD. The picture is fantastic anyways. I did hook-up a progressive just to test and yes, it was a cleaner image, but very subtle. My girlfriend couldn't tell and I don't want to give up the auto 16:9 for it. If anyone has tips for this TV or believes I set something incorrectly please let me know. Thanks for the info and helping me purchase what I believe is a great TV.
