Chances are I am going to have to build a Frankenstein HTPC for my movie room when its ready. I have a comp with a 9600 which would be perfectly fine but its a little far from the projector and I won't want to tote it.

I don't want to get the highest end possible. Just enough to play DVDs reliably and play HD source material from the hard drive.

1. How fast a CPU

2. How much RAM is required for these tasks?

3. If I just got a cheap 60 gig drive is that fine?

4. What about these shuttle cases? Lots of them have Radeon video on board.

The size appeals to me. With a fast chip are they worth it?

5. What is the good value video card of choice?

6. Is the Soundblaster Audigy 2 value or even a lesser card good enough?

My picture used to look great coming from my comp through a monitor cable through a good composite adaptor pumping into the projector. Are these ATI MP1 mods something I need?

I have a wireless keyboard going unused now. I can use that for interfacing.

I might like an HD tuner card if it plays nice but my experience with TV cards is they don't play nice on projectors. Hopefully things have improved in the last three years.
