I just loved watching Letters From Iwo Jima tonight and being able to move the subtitles up out of the bars with my Oppo player. I just have to thank Oppo for making the subtitle move possible.

CIH is a great thing but so many titles are not friendly to the technique due to this issue ,in the past.

I agree this is a great feature to have. I may end up buying the oppo just for it.

Me too. I was going to wait (indefinately?) until the Arcam player comes out, but I think the Oppo is starting to look like a favourite for the subtitle feature alone: The re encode feature for 1.5mps output via coax will also help (I have a legacy Arcam AV9 processor that sounds great with music so I'm not changing it for the forseeable future), plus the source direct function is useful with my external VP.

Now where's my credit card...

Hi Art. I check out your website every now and again but didn't notice the Oppo on your equipment list. Just curious...did the Oppo replace your Pioneer BDP HD1? As a fellow Oppo owner, I am incredibly pleased with its performance but haven't done much in the way of comparisons to other players.

Ahhh...I see. It's great to hear you have the Oppo but not so great to hear about your website. As I've told you before via a PM or email, I absolutely love your website and found it incredibly inspirational over the years as I worked on my own HT journey.

Franin,

Why a US modle?

Not only does it move STs, it provides VS and apparently is region free

Because Oppo's policy of selling the player directly to the customer, in most countries in Europe there are companies that import the player and Hardware Mod the player for Region Free playback for a small fee.

They also sell Hardware DIY Mod Kits which is easy to install yourself.

Are there nobody in Australia that has started this?

Should be an opportunity for somebody that already does some web selling?

Only the software region free Mod can be trouble. For the hardware mod I've seen no reports of trouble whatsoever. (works well with all Oppo's frequent firmware updates)
