JVC Dolby Digital

I just bought JVC RX-8010,figured I'd upgrade to DD.A couple questions...anyone else have this receiver?I can't seem to get my Sony A55 to hook up to Tv Input...seems to work fine when I use one of the other S video inputs. Next can't seem to get any of my Dolby Digital componets i.e. DVD,Sony A55 to work using the optic cables.Yes I took covers off.Shouldn't you only have to hook up the S-Video and the optic cable(without the component audio cables) and hear sound?I don't think the optic inputs are working as I can't hear anything no matter what channel I turn the satellite to.

Hu: When you connect Digital Optical Cables from DVD players, Sat. Receivers, etc to the JVC, you must do some setup from the front panel first. You have to select the Digital Input (Optical, Coaxial or Analog; you have to go into setup and tell it CD, DVD player Sat Receiver, etc. I suggest that if you are not familiar with this, and you can't follow it in the manual, call JVC on their toll free number. They will talk you thru it. They are quite helpful with it. Good Luck.
I got the setting to work now for DBS (Svideo input) but still no PCM linear....it works in analog with all speakers working, but PCM flashes and I can't get sound to come out when in PCM.Problem is I can't be home during JVC hours. And when picking choices for DBS they are only sc and component no optical. All optical cables are plugged securely.
