I recently just purchased a preowned HD250 for $1050 with only 140 hours on it and under warranty til March2014. I also just stumbled on brand new leftover HD750's for $2075. Would that be an upgrade from what I have now even it's an older projector than what I have now? I think retail for my HD250 was 3000 and the HD750 was like $8K.


I don't care about 3d and it's in a pitch black theater room with very dark walls, ceiling and furniture.

The HD750 was top of the line at one time; it has CMS and much better contrast than the HD250. The only thing I can think of is the cheaper one is a tad brighter, otherwise it's a definite upgrade. Whether it is worth $1,000 more, that depends.


BTW, the HD750 has a firmware upgrade that you might need to perform to get the most out of the CMS.

I took the plunge and bought the last new one from amazon. For $ 2010. I read about the firmware update. I wonder if mine will come through all set.

My hd250 looks awesome don't get me wrong but for the $ I think the 750 will look outstanding.

A few people suggested the newer style 3d proj for a little more $ but those don't have the cms or thx mode
