I am trying to boost the received FM signal level with an alternate antenna for use at home. I have the sleeve antenna and can't get a clue what type of antenna JVC supplies in the car kit for the window. The three lead connector suggests there may even be a BALUN or a powered active antenna. I don't want to buy the house kit just for the antenna especially if it can't pull in a stronger signal. Most of the time on the main channel of 94.1 WYSP Phila. shows up. Then the -1 may come in, but the -2 is really hard to hold in. Any thoughts about what the receiver antenna input circuit is or experience with the KV-K1019's home antenna.

Thanks in advance,

This may be an idea, I used a 2.5 mm adapter in the antenna jack of the unit and used an old 3.5 headphone jack with the wires exposed and separated. I then attached those wires to an amplified fm antenna. I felt I did get better signals, but I need to play around with it more.

I did e-mail JVC for help and got no where.

Did you just try connecting it to a regular FM T ype antenna?

I really need to figure out the pin out of the co-axial antenna connector that goes into the radio. It's a tip, ring and sleeve like stereo earphones. I guess one pin (sleeve) is ground, another pin is for DC for an amplifier and the last pin I am assuming is the amplified RF antenna output.

I don't know if the antenna is stand 75 ohm unbalanced or 300 ohm balanced possibly.

Thanks,

I tried both the T one and a Terk ampiflied antenna. Didn't seem to help compared to the Best Buy HD portable. I get much better signal with out drop outs with just the headphones as the antenna with the portable BB unit. So the JVC is trash as compaired to the BB unit....glad I didn't pay full price for it.
