JVC Replacing my 61z786

276 Views 3 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  MaxBungle
Well I have had many different things done to the set and they can't fix it. The guy on the phone said they would replace it with the same model number. I asked if I could upgrade it to a different model and he told me they would for the difference in cost to them. So I asked what that would be and he told me around $700-$900 for the 61fh96. I am trying to brainstorm and think if this is what I should do. I really have a sour taste in my mouth with the model number I have. After 10 months of owning it ive had 4 months downtime. I really want the newer model ,but I am concerned about my extended warranty through GE. I have a 4 year extended through them and it is supposed to start July 31. Anyone on here have their set upgraded through JVC because of multiple defects?

I have the same tv (786).

What sorts of issues were you having?

I'm finding the convergence, black levels and dvd performance to be quite questionable.

I'm definitely not as happy with it as i had hoped, given that I am "upgrading" from a 55" Tosh CRT proj unit that did not have these "issues".

Pretty much everything that could go wrong. Bulb after 900 hours. Light engine replacement. Green Screen on TV Input 3 times now. They(JVC) said they don't know what is wrong. I just checked with my extended warranty and they told me all is good. Just send the new invoice when I get my tv replaced and they will honor it with no charge.

I am gunshy of getting the same model number with all I have gone through with this set. Might as well pony up the extra cash to get the fh96 model.

At least they all use the same bulbs. I have a couple spares on hand.

Sorry to hear that..

I just got the green screen on the internal HD tuner now... seemed to start when i plugged in my new HDMI DVD player. I had a service guy come out and now there's a tuner board on order. Unplugging the DVD player didn't make a difference.. it's as if the play fried something.. hope that's the last of it :(
