JVC RS 440 Lens control has a mind of its own?

I have owned my RS440 for about a year now, and after the initial install and configuration, I've been very happy. Last night when I shut it off, the perfectly aligned lens decided to maneuver itself to point 100% up (this is ceiling mounted in a typical room.. screen is 12 feet away in the center of the wall.) When I double tapped "standby" to turn it off from the remote, it went through its full travel before stopping at full up position. I watched it in disbelief.

Anyway, it was late, so I just shut it off and went to bed.

Today I turned it back on, hoping it would have somehow resolved itself overnight, but, unfortunately, it has not.

I don't recall hitting any buttons. No kids were around to play with it.. it was literally me alone.

I've tried hitting the 3 memory buttons, hoping that the correct settings were saved and it would just go back to normal. No luck.

What could have gone wrong and is there a simple fix? I cannot even read the settings menu since the lens is now pointed to roughly a few inches in front of the lense on the ceiling. Completely distorted and warped.

Resave the memory settings and see if it works like it is supposed to.
I always have this problem but not nearly extreme. Every time I shut it off and turn it back on the next day, the lens position will move for less than an inch. I can move it back and reposition it but next day it will do the same thing again. Not sure why.
