JVC RS10 and HD350: Any difference?

1795 Views 11 Replies 10 Participants Last post by  Jason Turk
I am new to projectors, and my advisor is steering me to the JVC HD350. I notice that the HD350 is available through JVC's "regular" line and the JVC RS10 is available in their "pro" line. Looking at the specs, it seems that there is a minor difference in contrast ratio as the only stated difference.

Is there a difference between the 2 projectors?

Is there a price difference between them?

Also, any suggestions regarding best match for a screen (approx. 90" diagonal in dark, dedicated room using Blu-ray, dvd, hi-def tv, occasional sdtv and xbox as sources).

Thanks

RS10 is black/gold vs black/silver. I like the black/gold. Other than that the differences you stated is all that seperates them.
The DLA-HD350 is available in either glossy piano black or glossy white
We have a free shipping (if you follow us on twitter) special still going on if you are interested in the projector we have the RS10 in stock give us a call.
RS10, I think, comes with a 2 year warranty opposed to the one year on the HD350. Also a HT installer told me that the HD350 is more optimized / tuned for home theatre performance (don't know if I buy that though).
I saw the HD350 on a 92" grey, Stewart screen at magnolia hifi. Just a spectacular image. I was never too impressed with grey screens I had seen in other setups. But for the 350, at that size - it really popped. I am really happy with my rs10 on a 116", 126" diag high power scope screen. I tried a white screen but I prefer the pop of the high power over lower black levels, even in my totally light controlled dedicated room. No need for a HP at 92". Be sure to demo your screen choices and and screen sizes as this unit really puts out a lot of light. My first row is at 12 feet and BD or hdtv is awesome. Even a decent SD DVD looks great this close.

It's 2 years on the HD350.
The RS10 is the original projector, from the Pro division of JVC that makes/develops all the projectors, HD cameras, videophile stuff, broadcast stuff, etc... The consumer division (that makes the audio equipment, DVD players, etc...) OEM's it from the pro division and calls it the HD350. Inside they are the same. Outside they are the same except the RS10 has a gold accent and the HD350 has a silver. Both are the same MSRP, same warranty, etc...
Thanks! It doesn't seem to really matter which one I get. I haven't seen the demo yet, but from my reading it seems that these projectors are in the "sweet spot" for performance/value at their price point.
Is the white 350 available in the USA? Or is there a white version of the RS10?

Equal from a performance standpoint. I agree...I personally think in the say under $5k range, this is the one to beat overall.

RS10 is black only...I think the white is a European only version.

You're all forgetting that the RS10 has a 12v trigger and the hd350 doesn't.

I forgot about that (I sell the RS10 only so am just used to seeing it).
