Did JVC fix the problem their previous models had with stuttering during pan scenes? JVC uses a poor quality de-interlacer chip too, can't compare with the better ones like Faroudja or Silicon Image. For under $100 it compares well with the other cheap models out there but not with the higher end Faroudja-based models.

I have the firmware for the "problems" you reference, directly from JVC, sitting, un-opened, here on my desk. However, I won't tamper with the existing software, because I have found nothing wrong.

Technical terms like "Faroudja" and "Silicon Image" are excellent indicators, when it comes to purchasing quality products. I've used them. But, sometimes, you must make decisions based upon what you SEE.

Then, there is the matter of your projector or display device "settings". Both DVD player and (in my case) projector, should be "set" correctly to receive optimal pic quality. Incorrect settings, is one of the reasons, persons have different results, using the same equipment.

I purchased the XV-N410B recently, wanting an inexpensive player to drive DVD-RWs (interlaced only) on a 27"Sony in the family room. The player freezes momentarily now and again on chapter/scene changes. I've ordered the firmware, will see if it repairs the defect. Otherwise, PQ is good, and the player runs all of my DVDs, including Region 1 purchased overseas.
