I have a 5/6 yr old Sony CRT HDTV (KDP-57WS655) that works great but was wondering if a Calibration would make any improvements for HD viewing, I use an Avia cal disc and clean the CRT's and internal mirror annualy to keep the picture sharp. Would like to keep the TV a little longer but every time I see all the Plasmas,LCD's and LED's i'm tempted to buy

Sometime in the next year or two you will have a convergence board failure and it will cost $500 to fix at least. More now since there are no more replacement parts for these tvs. Everything has to be rebuild.


Keep it ... and use it. Sell it, it has little resale value unless you donate it to a church or something.

There's a great thread on calibrating, cleaning, repairing and keeping these TVs going, as many of their owners prefer them to flat panels...+
