My Kenwood VR-507 receiver has developed a problem with the DD, DTS and DPL modes. Maybe the other DSP modes as well, I'm not sure if I tested them. What is happening is that I get all the background music and sound effects normally. However, the voice channel is very weak unless I switch to bypass the modes or downmix to stereo. Has the unit gone bad? Do I need to send it in or has some setting been changed?

Any help appreciated.

David,

I'm not familiar with the VR-507, but most multichannel receivers have a setup screen where you adjust the relative volumes of all of the speakers.

Have you checked to see what those settings are? Maybe someone was playing with it and turned down the center channel's volume.
