Hi all,

Quick question...

Do you think combining a 8 watt 300B SET tube amp w/ the Klipsch RF-7 (8ohms nominal and 102db sensitivity) a bad idea or good idea???

My current system measures around 85db's w/ reciever reading -10db's. My wife and I NEVER listen past -30db's.

Room size 26 x 17 w/ 9 ft high ceilings and we sit about 11 ft from the our current speakers.

Thanks in advance. :)

For low listening levels I suppose 8 watts would be enough (not much headroom though), but why would you want to do this?

Klipsch RF-7s are not 8 ohm nominal speakers. They are 8 ohm compatible. Sound & Vision rated them as 6 ohm speakers. The same tests showed a minimum impedance of 2.8 ohms. The folks on the Klipsch board that run RF-7s on tube amps usually use the 4 ohm taps.

A SET amp will clip on dynamic music unless you run it at low levels. SET amps work better with Klipschorns and LaScalas.
