Klipsch has had skin in the speaker game for longer than most readers here have been alive. So, when the company introduces a next-generation flagship speaker it's worth taking notice. Today, the company has announced the immediate availability of its RF-7 III ($1799) and RC-64 III ($1499) speakers, which are updated models of its top-tier offerings.

The 95-pound RF-7 III floorstanding speaker features a 1.75" titanium compression-driver Tractrix horn-loaded tweeter that includes a new phase plug sporting geometry said to improve "sound pressure linearity at high frequencies."

These massive towers have a dual chamber ported design where each of the two 10" Cerametallic woofers enjoys its own discrete enclosure to operate within. According to clips, this reduces anomalous midrange frequencies resulting in improved linearity. The end result is said to be a "very articulate soundstage."

Specs for the RF-7 III are impressive. Klipsch claims a frequency response of 32 Hz to 25 kHz +/-3 dB with 100 dB sensitivity (2.83 V/1M) and 8-ohm compatibility. Power handling is listed as 250 watts continuous, with 1000-watt peaks.

According to Kerry Geist, product manager at Klipsch Group "These speakers have earned the nickname 'firebreathing monsters' for a reason. They are the best sounding audio files speaker at this price point."

Towers as powerful as the Klipsch RF-7 III towers need a center channel that can keep up. The RC-64 III is designed to take on that task. It also features a 1.75" titanium compression driver in a Tractrix horn. This is flanked by four 6.5" woofers (2 on each side), in a 2.5-way design that reduces horizontal off axis interference.

The RC-64 III has a specified frequency response of 57 Hz to 24 kHz +/-3 dB. It's rated sensitivity is 99 dB (2.83 V/1M) and power handling is listed as 200 watts continuous with 800-watt peaks.

Both of these speaker models are assembled in Hope Arkansas and available in three finishes: Black Ash, Cherry, and Walnut. The Klipsch RF-7 III and RC-64 III are both available now from authorized retailers as well as Klipsch.com.
