Hi, I need a bit help over here. I own following setup: Onkyo 709 AV reciever, RF-63 fronts, RC-64 center and RS-52 II surounds all Klipsch. I just need to to buy sub. Now my room is somewhere around 70 cubic meters (2649 cubic foot if google converter is correct
) The guy in the store says to me that I should keep 600USD in my pocket and go for SW-308 instead of SW-311. This is probably the last time I'm gonna spend to much money on any speaker and I really wanted to buy SW-311, but the guy in the store told me that it would be a waste of money and he was so sturdy non the less that he actualy persuade me not to spend that money on SW-311, he actualy told me that he as a merchant would be more happier if I buy 311 'cos he will get more money out of it and there is where he got me. I bought 308 instead of 311 and he told me if I'm dissatisfied with the 308 that I bring it back to store and just give extra cash and go out with 311. So what do you guys think. Did I make a right dicision and saved 600USD to spend more on TV (the next thing I'm planning to upgrade my HT) or did he persue me wrong?

Thanks for any help provided!

No. Size of speaker is not the issue. The issue is "cost of 311 over 308 and the worth of it"? Considering to size of room as the merchant said. THNX!

Yeah, definitely get an Internet Direct sub, WAY WAY more for your money. I am a massive Klipsch fan (have all Reference speakers) but their subs just don't cut it.

Why Then would he persue me to go with smaller one? You really think I get so "alot" more? Why would he not want to earn more? That's the question I ask myself all day long. 'Cos I just bought it yesterday.

What is Internet direct sub? And by what do you mean that 'Klipsch subs just don't cut it'?

I can think of many reasons, but it really doesn’t matter or anything that he says for that matter. You have the option of going ID or DIY. Both are much better options.

Internet Direct companies like: Power Sound Audio, Hsu Research, Rythmik, SVS, and Outlaw Audio offer the best bang for your buck. They can do this because of 2 facts: (1. they have no middle man because they sell direct over the internet, and (2. they have industry leading professional engineers and designers running them.

Klipsch among other brands tend to exaggerate their specs and frequency response compared to what real measurements and graphs show. Now for $600 the Rythmik LV12R will give you REAL and USABLE 19hz output. Below 20hz is where bass really becomes fun because thats where bass is more about feel than sound.

OK. Here is the thing. I don't have time to build my own sub. I live in Croatia/Europe so those brands are out of reach (talking about ID). What I could do is either return this sub and go for 311 or go with maybe some other brand for a price of aprox 1500$. That's the price 311 would cost me in the possible end. So what do You think I should do? Stick to 308, go with 311 for 600$ more or go for amount of 1500$ with another brand? THNX!

SVS has a dealer in Germany and Italy. Both just a short(ish) train ride away.

Check them out.

Really! hey that’s cool. SVS sure gets around! I would strongly suggest taking that train ride, SVS subs are a great product and great option.
