I'm putting a new surround sound system together, I want to spend about $1500 total. The speakers im looking at are either the Klipsch Quintet III with a sub or the Canton CD10 2 speaker set. Thoughts on either? Or something else that might be better?

Wouldn't get a surround system with two speakers...

On the other hand, some people are happy with stereo.

Seems to me that you can do better with $1500... Is that for speakers and sub only? receiver? DVD player?

Sorry i was unclear, the Canton set has four speakers and a sub.

Go to audiotrends.com.au/surround_sound_speakers and then .htm

i cant post urls yet it would appear

third one down

I havnt decided on a sub yet if i went with the klipsh, really i was wanting any opinions on either of those speakers, or any better suggestions. Would want to spend $1200 or less on speakers, meaning four speakers and a sub.

That would be http://www.audiotrends.com.au/surrou...d_speakers.htm

If you are in Australia, that may limit the choices suggested here...

If this for an apartment? A house? A livingroom or a family room? Movie only? Or music too?

Myself, I would avoid the tiny speakers and underpowered sub that serves more of an upper-bass reinforcement module. I'd budget a $500 sub from a subwoofer place such as SVS, Hsu or eD and put the rest on 5 small bookshelf (but not tiny) identical speakers, looking for deals on discontinued models.
