After shopping for many months and hemming and hawing between Direct View and RPT, I finally decided on the

new KP51HW40 from Sony.

The set was delivered today and I am blown away by the picture!

DVD looks fantastic. I played Gladiator's "Battle of Carthage" scene and it looked better than in the Movies!

I can't wait to get HDTV!

Here is the biggest surprise of all...Even Cable looks great!

Note: I originally had cable running to my VCR, VCR thru my Reciever, then the Receiver to the TV via an RCA Cable.

(This looked fine with my old 27")

Well, it looked like crap on the new TV, so I hooked the cable directly to the TV's VHF/UHF input and now it looks fantastic.

I have the picture settings as follows...

Mode: Pro

Brightness: 50%

Picture: 50%

Color: 35%

Hue: Centered

Color Temp: Neutral

If you are shopping for a new TV, please take a look at this new Sony!

Congratulations! I've had mine for almost two months now (got the very first one to come into the store) and have been loving it. I like the standard and warm (NTSC standard) color setting the best, but my other settings ( contrast, brightness, etc) are close to yours. If you scan this forum and www.***************.com you will find little to no problems associated with the HW40 series.

Sony finally got it right: an excellent HDTV for a great price.

Enjoy!
