Hello. :)

I've finally come to a sort of conclusion. To drive my B&W CDM 7NT with DENON A1SE(AVR-5800).

This weekend, I'm going to audition Chord amps.

Untill then.....

I've narrowed down to 2 choices.

Krell KAV-300iL OR Bryston 4BST.

Which one should I go for ?

akkk....I'm getting dizzy.

:)

Any info, comments would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks. :)

Eric:

Have you listened to both amps? If so which one do YOU like better? Though some believe B&W Nautilus top models go well with Krell or ML there are lots of us using Bryston (7B's to be exact) amps and are very happy with them. If price differential isn't a big issue then go with whatever you like o/w you know I am going to recommend Bryston just for it's 20 yr transferrable warranty making used Bryston's highly sought after.

Keep in mind I am referring to the Nautilus line not the CDM's.

Hi London8,

Does your Denon 5800 have analogue passthrough for Sacd playback? If it doesn't then the Krell 300iL will give you an added bonus in terms of an analogue preamp as well as a 200 watt amplifier.

This kills two birds with on stone.

Both offer great match up for you speakers.

As a side note I was amazed today at a demo of the new Nautilus 800 paired with a pair of 600watt monoblock Classe amplifiers with classe gear.

It was the best B&W combination I have heard. It was quite amazing.

Just my 2cents, Brian

It does.

London8 you have two great choices. I don't think you can go wrong with either. I am a bit partial to Bryston, even though I own Linn power amps.

Wow~

I love classe..but if you don't mind that I have one question..

Classe have 600W monoblock? I knew classe has 350w mono...

You mean CAM350?....I know CAM 350 350watt mono...

Please let me know.

Thanks

I heard SP75(classe processor)+CAM350(pair)+CAV500(5ch) at my friend's home.....wonderful system....

Of course classe SP75 don't support 7.1 now...but have so excellent sound quality....I think Bryston 4bst is good gear energetic, powerful...but classe is more musical oriented gear.

It's my opinion:)

Thanks
London78,

I am curious about your impression on the Chord amps. I am driving my N805 with a Chord amp. Before purchasing the Chord I also tried the Bryston 9B-ST in my system. Both are very good amps.

Michel
You can not go wrong with either Krell or Bryston. It's really a matter of personal taste and what matches better in your system.
I'm still breaking in my new Bryston 14BST (had it only a week), and I have B&W 803's hooked to it. I am very happy with this combo. I auditioned the 4Bst in the shop with 802's, and was equally as pleased. The Bryston's are well built, sound great, and have a 20 year warranty, which sold me. Most people I speak with compare the Brystons in a class with the Krells, but with a lower price and better warranty. Both would be a great match with B&W speakers, though. Listen for yourself and decide. My preference is with Byston...Happy listening, pete
