I just auditioned the Showcase (with Martin Logans) along with the Bryston 1.7 (with M&Ks), Classe SSP-30 (Martin Logans and B&W Nautilus 802s) and Integra Research RDC-7 (with B&W Nautilus 802s).
I actually found all four quite similar but I think the RDC-7 sounded better for home theater, however it was the only one I heard in a 7.1 set up.
The problem I have with the Showcase is that the power amp is rated 125w and would prefer something more powerful. Also, it is not hardware upgradeable, but I'm not sure how much of an issue this should be since it is software upgradeable.
Don't let the numbers fool you on the showcase amp, it has plenty of juice. I have been very impressed so far regardless of material. I would only worry if you are running some very tough loads i.e. 2 ohms.
