Hello. this might be a simple question for most (sorry).

i have a 50" Sony KDF-50E3000 that i got in 2006-07.

yesterday i picked up a brand new 40" Samsung flat panel LCD for my bedroom.

now, the Sony in our family room looks a lot less bright and i can't tell if it's just the way the TV always was and the new LCDs are brighter. or, is my lamp getting older and less bright? is that possible for a lamp or do they just stay bright and then when they go, they go?

thanks!

Three years on a lamp is getting close to needing a new one. Yes the brightness goes down slightly over time but it is so gradual that you don't notice. In the last few weeks, days, hours it gets noticeable and then it goes out. Other things like dirty optics can also dim the picture.
