not familiar with the unit, but it doesn't look like you could get surround sound out of it.

If you have a pcmcia slot free, then you may want to try a Margi DVD to Go card, which are available with a coax spdif out.

Ebay has a vendor who claims to be a Margi licensed reseller ([email protected]) selling them at $115 Buy Now. (he claims the retail is $299). His feedback is 577 +ve, 2 -ve, ie as good as they get.

I'm listing one of his auctions here http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI...tem=1244865863 so you can see what I am talking about.

I'll leave it for you to decide whether this solution will work for you, and to do any price research from other vendors etc..

This is very interesting item.

I'm trying to find out if it compatible with my Viro

PCG-F540.

Could anyone tell me what is "zoomed video"?

Zoom video is, I believe, a feature of PC Card slots that you need to get them to do any high-speed video (like as a video input card or DVD decoder.) It is needed because the normal PCMCIA card spec has a very low bandwidth that could not normally support video.

But I think anything made within the last two years or so should have it.

my viro PCG-F540 was made last year and I bought it this

January. guess it has zoomed video.

I think I'm going to give it a try.

I send the seller a email regarding my viro compatibility

and also if I can get video from the laptop VGA when playing

DVD movie. But I haven't got any response from him yet.

After carefully reading the auction page http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI...tem=1244865863

I found this paragraph

"You see, otherwise, without the dongle, you can't play your DVD's anywhere else but on your laptop. With the Dongle, however, you can play it on any TV via RCA jacks (red, white, and yellow) or S-Video"

I guess this mean I CAN get video from my laptop VGA output.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

I just got the response from edirol

"The UA-30 is not designed to work with surround sound applications"

That will take care my question.
