Laptop Soundcard

Hi,

I am looking for a usb/firewire soundcard which will be used for a laptop. I have been particularly interested in the M-Audio Firewire 410. But the price tag is really high. I don't need all the extra recording capabilities. I just need playback, which also provides either a s/pdif or a digitial coaxial output. I am definitely looking for high quality audio here, since the application will be mostly music. I guess my price limit is at about $200, but it could go higher. I would love to get the M-Audio Firewire 410, but all the additional functionalities have resulted in a higher cost. I don't need anything extra, no virtual surround or recording capabilities or anything (I woudln't mind, but I don't feel it is worth to pay more for if I'm not going to use it). I just want high-quality playback. What would you guys recommend? Thanks.

M-Audio Transit or M-Audio Sonica Theater
Hey,

Thanks for the suggestions. I"ll look into both. I've heard of the transit. But I'll look into the Sonica Theater. Thanks again!
