My room is 11(w) 19(l) 8(h)... floors are hardwood and there is an opening to the dinning room in the rear. looking for a DIY kit for 70% music, 29% ht, and 1% rediculous sound effects LOL. I want these speakers to be able to take some abuse but... sound good doing it. I was looking pi speakers but, the owner can't seem to keep AE and JBL drivers in stock. I also realised I.don't have space for a big waveguide system. I'm thinking a dual mid and tweet. something elegant looking but has some balls. don't wanna spend over $1200 for the kit. wish I could build the cabinets but I live in a big city... no shop. ill probably ask a cabinet shop to do the box build. everything is fresh. going solid state for amps. would like this kit to have crossovers. any suggestions would be awesome. fir music... I listen to mostly metal. a sub will be in the design as well. still would like good midbass punch from the monitors.

I have Usher X-719, They are 40 lbs bookshelf speakers each and they can be abused !!!.

There are some really nice midsize speakers coming based around the SEOS-12 waveguide. I got some flat pack "prototype" boxes cut this week for a couple designs and there will be 2 more done next week. And that's before the other designers get their stuff done.

Things will start moving along pretty fast soon.

with this type of system... I would need a sub for sure. do you have any designs as of right now? like... I can buy the flat back.from you and then get the drivers elsewhere?

There are designs ready using the Eminence Deltalite and a couple other woofers. Some flat packs just arrived this week.

You can get the kit with a regular rectangle cabinet instead of curved for center channel use.

sweet... this would be a hell of a lot easier going this route. still questioning on whether these monitors will have good bass... atleast for solid kick-drum. I really hate having to compromise. my living room is small. I would much rather go with a larger tower with bass horns and all. oh well... save up for a bigger house

The 5db null near the cross over doesn't alarm you? Or the fact that it's a 2-way MTM laid on it's side for Center Channel use? That doesn't look like a good idea to me.


There are some 2.5 way MTM designs out there if that's what you want. Can you provide some better details of what it is you need. Is $1200 for 5 channels, or 2? More details please.

According to the designer the null fills in off axis, so no it really isn't a big deal. Of course a 2way mtm design isn't perfect, neither is a 2.5way with full bsc and a different response on each side of the axis. With a xover around 1600Hz this design will actually be fairly solid off axis as a center. There are also about a half dozen xover designs for this driver configuration, which would allow the op to easily try something else for the cost of xover parts.

$1200 was for the monitors and a center... most I can.go is $1500. I can worry about surrounds later. as far as subs go... I'm going with a f-20 bass horn lol
