I bought a wemax laser projector last year and did a side by side comparison with the epson 2150/TW5650, the clarity and sharpness was quite bad compared to epson and I have no idea why. I have already done the focus settings on the xiaomi laser projector. Very disappointed. It’s on a normal projector screen and completely pitch black theatre room.
The only better thing were the colors. There is only one setting to adjust sharpness which is the electric focus for xiaomi. Here is the simple comparison
I made:
Epson:

Xiaomi:

Is this the norm for laser projectors or is it because its a short throw projector ?
Was thinking to get the new 4K Xiaomi projector but after that experience I am afraid to try again.

@vkvkvvk, how big an image are you throwing (diagonal in inches). Mi marketing suggests that it can do 150". But UST projectors are known to have issues with larger images due to the geometry of UST lens systems. Many UST projectors are claimed to produce a sharp image up to 100" and once you get larger than 100" the image tends to deteriorate fairly quickly. As @DunMunro says, for images >100" to be really sharp a UST projector needs to have a high quality UST lens system which can be very expensive and is usually only found on pricey professional UST projectors. It's a lot easier to make a large image that's also sharp with a longer throw lens.
