So they are ahead of LCD's?

Yeah, unfortunately most people are in the clouds about technology.

Because of that we are seeing a LED DLP RPTV go by the way side due to lack of interest in the consumer market.

Though I have one myself, the only draw back is the vertical height limitation, you cannot setup the TV for eye height differences (small childeren, and different seating heights), though off horizontal angle is about the same as LCD.

The reason I got mine, was that it uses 1/4 the power of my CRT TV and nothing comes close to it for its 61" picture and could not pass up the discount price.

So right now you would recommend a DLP over a plasma and LCD ?

Only the 7 series Samsungs... 61" and 67" as they are the best ever made and may not see anything else released for 2009. Though Mitsubishi was playing around with a true Laser version but dropped the ball.

It is possible that there will not be any more newer technology RPTV DLPs released for this year.

The only standardized DLP display type will be FPTVs and the nice thing is Laser will be the replacement to the high heat bulbs that are expensive and need replacing through life of use. Dark Chip 5 with laser is the way to go.

Anything over 50"s DLP & LcOS have it all over LCD. I don't know or even if LCD can ever compete in 60-70"+ range. But the average consumer wants something they can hang on wall, screw optimal image. Losers!

When my 61" LcOS dies someday, I have no idea right now what I'd replace it with, Forward Project is not an option in my Living Room.....
