Has anyone compared the two? trying to decide between them but can't make up my mind yet. Probably both the same and couldn't tell the difference anyway right?

I chose PL-200. I ordered it after 2 weeks of research. My only concern now is that PL-200 is Ported at back while Lava is Ported at Front. Im wondering how's the difference between those Ports locations!!...

Lava is new kid on the block. But this new kid has fought some real heavy hitting higher end subwoofers and still impressed people.

Bic has the notoriety and was designed by the guys from HSU, pretty much proven budget subwoofer.

I doubt either will let you down

When the hell's that lava review coming out from audioholics? Wasn't it suppoed to be done like 2 weeks ago or so?

I wonder if they will compare it to similarly priced subs like the Bic?

Gene from Audioholics says: "Yes the original reviewer went AWOL on us. We thankfully got the subwoofer back and are now in the process of sending it to another (very trusted and experienced) reviewer. This should be a good review coming so please be patient" (1-3-2011).

I am in the same boat. I'm looking to build a budget HT/Music setup for my brother.

My choices are:

Lava LSP12

BIC PL200

Premier Acoustics PA120

Acoustic Audio HD Sub12/15

Klisch RW10d (currently on sale for $270 at vanns)

At around $200, individuals in this forum like the BIC F12 and Premier Acoustic PA-120. At under $300, individuals like the BIC PL-200 and Lava LSP12. You need to check the respective threads in this forum on how to get the best price.

http://www.audioholics.com/reviews/s...sp12-subwoofer - Lava LSP-12 - drops off substantially below 35 Hz

Even at the lower end, you can figure out some things. In the BIC PL-200 forum one individual (because of exceptional room loading) was able to get response to 22 Hz (he measured with REW and a Radio Shack SPL meter) but most individuals only got response to 25 Hz. Many individuals simultaneously owned the BIC F12 (or equivalent H100) and the PL-200. They uniformly stated that the PL-200 was better. One individual had the eD A2-300 in an upstairs listening area which he brought into his new basement HT room to compare with the PL-200. He felt that the A2-300 was better. The Hsu STF-2 is considered a step up from the PL-200. Certainly, the STF-2 is quite musical whereas at least two individuals have upgraded from PL-200s to other subwoofers because they did not consider the PL-200 to be sufficiently musical.

Thanks wwinkler... that is some very good info. Right now, I lean to the BIC offering, as it does seem to have a little more reach on the low end. I plan to grab two of them once I get the WAF spec fully researched.

I'm just curious. If you have the budget for 2x $330 subs why not spend the $700 on one really good sub? Something like an Outlaw LFM-1 EX, Hsu VTF-2 or 3? As I said I'm just curious.

Fair point. But, the real cost is $538 for two and that's a stretch for my budget as it is. I have zero chance of getting to $600 and $700 is right out.

I'm trying to get as much bang for my few bucks and that has me leaning this way. I also am looking at the Emotiva 12 and a couple others, but I think two budget subs will do me well--big room.
