I hope no one minds I post the url to this thread from the DVD/LD/VHS software & hardware forum. I just cannot believe what is being done to an American citizen who bought a legal DVD. What's worse is US Customs reason for seizing the disc: the MPAA doesn't want him to have it - even though it appears to be a legitimately available region 3 DVD and NOT a bootleg! I'm sure coug7669 (the victim in this case) would like to read what member attorneys think. customs detained dvd I think this is outrageous.

Indeed. If possible, calling it an outrage is perhaps an understatement.


I don't care whether it's welfare agencies, or boards of ed. and teachers' unions, or the cops, or now, U.S. Customs, bureaucracies in all of their Hydra-headed forms are inimical to the ideals of a democratic republic such as this.
