At looking at both specs, is there any real difference?

4U 5000, 6500, 13000

6U 5000, 6500, 8000, 9500, 13000

it's just the speaker placement (sides versus bottom). absolutely nothing more.

There are some reports that the 4s are silver and 6s are platinum finish. I have only seen a 6 in person so can't confirm. But the speaker placement is the major difference.

The 6U has a titanium finish while the 4U has a silver finish. That, plus the speaker placement, is the only difference (as far as I know).


I am eagerly awaiting the price drop to be reflected on the lc-37gd6u soon since the MSRP drop on Oct 1. I wonder why this hasn't occurred yet? I am getting very impatient.

what is the quality on sd tv? is it on 480 or is it on 720?

I'm very interested in this as well. Also I would like to replace my 27" tube but don't want to loose any size when watching sd, is this going to be smaller or bigger when watching sd going to a 37" widescreen?

The 37" (16:9) should show a bigger picture with SD material than the 27" (4:3). According to my rough calculations, the vertical dimension of a 37" widescreen is 18.1" vs. 16.2" for the 27" 4:3 screen.

A 37" 16:9 TV will display the equivalent of a 30" 4:3 image with bars on either side. This is a link to a calculator:

Wow, thanks ftaok! My room is kind of on the small size so now I’m thinking that the 32 might be a better choice… hummm also am I correct to think that the reason to stay away from the cheaper Makers of LCD displays is the fact that Sharp just does a better job at sd?
