A Question concerning front projection screen size. Rear Projection widescreen units give you the option of blowing up a 4:3 image into a 16:9 frame (of course loosing some percentage of the edges depending on the amount of blow-up)...I was wondering if this option is available with LCD and or DLP front projectors from a fixed distance screen to the projector lens?

In other words.....with a throw distance of say 10 feet and the projector calculator throw distance and size results on a 4:3 screen size equalling a max of 80 inches diagonal (48 inches high and 64 inches wide)...must all my widescreen images fit within these dimensions (which gives me a max 16:9 image, I believe, of 36 inches high by 64 inches wide or a 73.6 inch diagonal).... or is it possible...keeping the same throw distance of 10 feet to blow a 4:3 picture up to a larger 16:9 screen size.

By keeping the throw distance fixed to 10 feet am I also locked into fixed numbers all the way around concerning widescreen size?

I hope I made myself clear.

Thanks for the help.

Michael
