lcd or plasma for tradeshow use?

I'm in the motorsports marketing field and see tons of tradeshows, events, races etc... where companies utilize displays for videos, presentations, video game sims etc.... Now I'm in the market to purchase a display for tradeshow, outside events and other random uses.

My question: I see plasmas way more than LCD out there now at events/tradeshows. This could be simply because prices for the 42" sweet spot were cheaper for plasmas over the past several years, and maybe in the past LCD viewing angles were not all that great for tradeshow floors.

But now I've got to believe LCD is the way to go for any use other than your light controlled living room.- since prices are leveling out at 42". Am i missing something? Are LCD's the way to go now?

I need a display that is durable, works well in uncontrolled light (including sunlight), is easy to move around the country and has great input options, and looks great too... Sounds like LCD.

I see plenty of commercial model plasmas, and I love the panny 9UK series plasmas. I own the consumer version (600u) and love it. Are there commercial model LCD's? Thoughts?

On the show floor, I think that they would both do okay, with perhaps a nod to LCD because of reflection/bright lights.

I do tradeshows. The thing I look at is the weight (for set up, shipping, etc). LCDs are lighter by about half.

thanks for the input. I'll be doing mostly outside stuff, under tents etc.

I'm getting LCD, but still curious why they are not more popular for event use yet.

Although I am a big fan of plasma for home theater, your situation begs for LCD. Go LCD and good luck at your shows.

Cheers,
