"Average prices for 37-inch LCD TVs hit a low of US$3,126 in June 2005, a decline of about 25% from March 2005 when the ASP (average selling prices) was US$4,138. The ASP for 37-inch HD PDPs in June 2005 was U$2,963."
Those "average" prices seem a tad high to me - even for MSRP.
It has been discussed previously that the reason there aren't more 37" PDPs sold is most likely due to the fact that there isn't much price difference between 37" and 42" PDPs and more consumers opt for the larger display - unless they have specific space limitations.

There are relatively few PDP mfrs. who are even in the 37-inch segment.
Good point. As for taking on the 42" segment, I find it hard to believe that LCDs will be able to compete with 42" plasmas any time soon. The bulk of 42" plasmas sold are ED, and those will probably be selling for something close to $1000 soon.
